While Ed-Tech has been gaining on popularity globally (well, if we were to factor out the Ed-Tech crack down in China), the space is now becoming over crowded with well funded start-ups trying to solve problems for a particular group of audience. Question: Is the Ed-Tech bubble on the verge of topping out?
While some of them are trying to augment the 'knowledge' that is being imparted at schools or colleges by partnering with them while some are trying to replicate the educational ecosystem in the virtual world while helping them prepare for various competitive examinations. Yet, there is another group trying to enhance the technical skills of their audience while helping them up-skill at scale so that they are able to acclimatise with the rapidly changing technology landscape.
However, in this rage, while everyone is rushing to solve the problems articulated above, there is a huge gap being created in the Interpersonal Development, Communication, Soft Skills, Sales, Marketing, Business Sustainability Management, Networking & the Vocational space. If a platform can allow individuals to learn these critical yet often ignored skills at their own pace and in a medium of instruction of their choice (barring English Speaking Courses), it should not be very difficult for them to attract a viable critical mass rather quickly.
Frankly, in the age of AI, where being able to think and articulate your thoughts well would gain more precedence over the ability to execute. Ignoring the skills that would help us retain the human edge over machines would be a death knell on our road to success & perhaps on our quest to not becoming redundant.
To top it all, if a business could start by creating a niche for themselves in the freelancing space or the gig economy while imparting the necessary trainings to excel in a specific set of tasks that a gig worker could offer up as a service.
